BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
(3 Year Fixed Term Contract)
Offaly Innovation & Design Centre CLG is recruiting a Business Development Manager for STREAM Creative Suite, Birr, Co. Offaly. STREAM Creative Suite is a new initiative – utilising big data from the I-LOFAR radio telescope to deliver regional STREAM potential.
The I-LOFAR radio telescope provides a unique opportunity to access Big Data in real time. This data can be utilised for training purposes and for proving algorithms for many sectors. Professors and researchers of universities affiliated with the international LOFAR network together with Software Developers and Data Analysts from companies operating within or in cooperation with companies based in the Midland Region will have the opportunity to use STREAM Creative Suite – either through regular hot desk usage or through the establishment of a base there.
Concept: STREAM Creative Suite encompasses Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts and Maths, underpinned by use of Big Data.
Location: Birr, Co. Offaly.
Services will include: hot desk facilities and office space, IT training facilities and training, industry focused events, and industry-led research projects.
Role Purpose:
Reporting to the Directors of Offaly Innovation and Design Centre CLG, the Business Development Manager will work as a member of a small dynamic team to develop STREAM Creative Suite as a vibrant hub. The role will involve responsibility for set-up and income generation through the rental of hot desk facilities and office space, IT training facilities and training, industry focused events, and industry-led research projects. Therefore, the role will involve significant client engagement at the individual and/or business level and requires engagement with the wider business, research and academic communities. The Business Development Manager will have previous relevant experience, will be highly motivated and will bring a strong sense of commitment to the ideas and values inherent in the work of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and manage STREAM Creative Suite facility, arranging rental, refurbishment, kit-out, liaising with service suppliers etc.
- Liaise with marketing professionals to develop marketing materials and implement a marketing plan aligned to the targets set out for STREAM Creative Suite
- Actively promote the fee-paying services of STREAM Creative Suite to targeted sectors utilising Big Data
- Liaise with educational institutions and stakeholders such as AIT, Trinity College Dublin, Space Industry Skillnet, and ASTRON to schedule and promote suitable training programmes and events
- Liaise with I-LOFAR Consortium Members to identify opportunities to collaborate on research projects within STREAM Creative Suite
- Work with stakeholders locally, regionally, nationally and internationally to develop STREAM Creative Suite
- Identify and liaise with International Researchers, promoting research opportunities and speaking engagements
- Source supplementary funding, account for such funds, and manage any projects arising from such funds
- Meet the agreed targets
The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:
- A relevant business or technology related qualification together with a proven track record in business development
- Technology background experience would be a distinct advantage; particularly with experience in Data Analytics and one or more of the STREAM Creative Suite research areas
- Have excellent communications/team working skills and experience in client/customer engagement in delivering customer service
- Have proven experience in event management and/or delivery of projects and special events, networking events or engagement with other agencies providing support to business
Additional Requirements:
- Honours Degree or higher qualification in a business, science or technology discipline
- Full Driving Licence Class B Vehicles
Remuneration:
A salary up to €80,000 is available, dependant on the successful candidate’s ability and experience for the role.
